US Faces Threats in Iraq Over Possible Hostilities Against Iran

Iraqi factions warned the United States on Tuesday that US bases and interests in Iraq and the region would be targeted if America engages in any hostile actions against Iran, according to Cairo News.

The Iraqi groups stated, “If the Americans engage in any hostile action against Iran, or if Israeli forces use Iraqi airspace to carry out bombing operations on Iranian soil, all US bases and interests in Iraq and the region will be our targets.”

This declaration followed Iran’s launch of a missile barrage at Israel, hours after White House officials warned that Tehran was planning an attack.

In response, President Joe Biden ordered US military support for Israeli defenses to intercept the Iranian missiles targeting Israel. A White House statement revealed that Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic nominee for the upcoming presidential elections, monitored the Iranian attack on Israel from the White House Situation Room.

The Israeli military announced this evening that Iran had launched dozens of missiles at Israel, triggering sirens across the country and driving millions to shelters. This came shortly after a US warning to Tel Aviv about Iran’s impending missile attack.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed on Tuesday that its ballistic missiles had targeted key military and security sites in the occupied territories, avenging the assassination of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas Political Bureau Chief Ismail Haniyeh, and Quds Force Commander Abbas Nilforoushan. They added, “If the Zionist regime retaliates against the Iranian operation, it will face severe attacks.”
