French footballer Karim Benzema stated in a press conference held on Thursday at Al-Ittihad Club that the Saudi Arabian league champions are a progressive team aiming to win more titles with him after his numerous achievements in Europe.
Benzema said, “The passionate fan base of Al-Ittihad motivated me to join the club. I chose it to continue winning titles. I have won many titles in Europe, and I desire more here.”
The presentation ceremony for Benzema took place at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium, which was nearly sold out. It began with a display of Benzema’s career, accomplishments, and titles. Then, Benzema entered the press conference wearing the official jersey of Al-Ittihad, featuring his image.
The atmosphere was reminiscent of grand tournament openings, with the crowd cheering and applauding. The spotlight and fireworks illuminated the club’s emblem, a tiger’s face, against a mesmerizing musical backdrop.
Benzema made his entrance amid rows of young players on a specially prepared platform in the stadium. He wore his new team’s number 9 jersey.
Addressing the fans, Benzema said, “Peace be upon you all. Thank you very much for the warm welcome.”
“I chose Al-Ittihad because it is a strong team that recently won the Saudi Arabian league title and has an amazing fan base. I will do everything in my power to take the team to new heights.”
He proudly displayed his Ballon d’Or award for the best player in the world to the roaring crowd.
Benzema responded, “Thank you for the overwhelming love I felt,” before interacting with the young players once again, accompanied by music.
He signed several footballs and sent them to the fans in the stands, then circled the stadium to greet the supporters.
