Pro-Iranian Iraqi armed factions announced on Sunday that they had targeted a “vital objective” in the Golan Heights using a drone.
In a statement, the “Islamic Resistance” said: “Continuing our path of resisting the occupation, in support of our people in Palestine and Lebanon, and in response to the massacres committed by the occupying entity against civilians, including children, women, and the elderly, the Islamic Resistance fighters in Iraq targeted a vital objective in the occupied Golan at dawn on Sunday using drone aircraft.”
The statement added: “The Islamic Resistance reaffirms its commitment to continuing operations against enemy strongholds with increasing frequency.”
Meanwhile, the Israeli army released a statement saying: “Following the sound of sirens between 4:21 and 4:22 AM in the Merom Golan area, a suspicious aerial object entered Israeli airspace from the east and landed in an open area.” The statement noted that “no injuries were reported.”
On Saturday evening, the “Islamic Resistance” announced targeting a vital objective in Um Rashrash (“Eilat”) using drones, along with another target in the Golan. Earlier on Saturday morning, the Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for attacking a vital target in the occupied Golan with drones.
Pro-Iranian Iraqi armed factions have repeatedly claimed responsibility for targeting sensitive Israeli sites over the past several months, in retaliation for the ongoing Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
