The Syrian and Russian forces have initiated air strikes on opposition bases in the northwest region of the country, according to an announcement by the defense ministry on Wednesday. This comes amidst a surge in deadly violence in the area over the past week.
In a statement carried by the state news agency SANA, the ministry stated that Syrian forces, in cooperation with Russian forces, conducted precise air and missile strikes on the fortified bases of terrorist organizations in the Idlib region. The operation was carried out as a response to the repeated attacks on civilians in residential areas in the neighboring Hama province.
The statement further mentioned that the targeted bases, which housed weapons, ammunition, and drones, were completely destroyed as a result of the strikes.
The escalation of violence in northwest Syria has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of civilians in the region. The actions taken by the Syrian and Russian forces indicate their resolve to counter the ongoing threats posed by terrorist organizations in the area.
