The Jordan Armed Forces announced on Wednesday that its eastern regional forces successfully shot down a drone that entered Jordanian territory from Syria. This marks the third drone interception by Jordan this month.
According to a military source cited by the state-run Petra news agency, the drone was detected by Jordanian border guards, the anti-narcotics department, and military intelligence.
The drone’s illegal border crossing from Syria was immediately identified, leading to its interception by the Jordanian forces. The report stated that items carried by the drone were seized, but did not provide further details.
This incident follows the recent interception of two other drones from Syria earlier in the month. One of the intercepted drones was found to be carrying approximately 500 grams of narcotics, while the other was a combat drone.
In May, the Jordanian army successfully thwarted three separate attempts to smuggle narcotics into Jordan from Syria. The continuous efforts by Jordanian forces to combat illicit activities and safeguard the nation’s borders reflect their commitment to maintaining security and stability in the region.
