Major General Yousef Huneiti, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, confirmed that Jordanian armed forces utilized all available capabilities and resources to thwart infiltration and smuggling operations. The forces engaged in a 14-hour-long clash with drug smugglers from Syria along the Eastern Military Region border on Monday evening. The operation resulted in the seizure of substantial quantities of narcotics and weapons, along with the arrest of a group of smugglers entering Jordanian territory from Syria.
General Huneiti underscored the commitment of the armed forces to prevent such operations, emphasizing their determination to confront all threats on the border fronts and pursue armed groups involved in such activities to safeguard the nation’s security and stability.
During his assessment of the operation, General Huneiti commended the efforts of the Border Guards and applauded their high morale and professionalism in executing their assigned duties to preserve the Kingdom’s borders.
The clash with armed groups along the border lasted for 14 hours, culminating in the arrest of nine suspects. The Jordanian armed forces remain resolute in their efforts to protect the homeland from security threats and maintain border security.
