The Israeli military reported on Friday that it had intercepted dozens of rockets launched from Lebanon, with approximately 75 rockets detected crossing into Israeli territory.

The announcement came shortly after air raid sirens sounded across northern Israel, alerting residents to the incoming threat.

The rockets, identified as originating from Lebanon, prompted a swift response from Israeli defence systems, which successfully intercepted many of the projectiles.

Additionally, the Israeli forces pinpointed a Hezbollah rocket launch platform in the Yaroun area, which was allegedly primed for further attacks against Israel.”

A short while after the alarm, our forces detected the launch site and an Israeli fighter jet promptly destroyed it, preventing a potentially larger rocket attack,” a military spokesperson stated.

In retaliation to recent events, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an early Friday drone attack on the Israeli battalion headquarters in Jatoun.

According to Hezbollah, this aerial strike, which utilized kamikaze drones, targeted the newly established headquarters of Artillery Battalion 411 and resulted in Israeli casualties.

“Hezbollah’s drone strike precisely hit its targets, causing casualties among the officers and soldiers,” the group stated in a release.

The attack was described as a response to an alleged Israeli assassination near the town of Qana.

Local reports also noted that air raid sirens had been activated multiple times on Friday morning throughout the Galilee region, underscoring the heightened tensions and ongoing security concerns in the area.

An  Israeli soldier named Haim Sabach, aged 20, died in an attack attributed to Hezbollah near a military site close to the town of Malikiyah in southern Lebanon.

The incident, reported by the “Times of Israel” quoting military sources, marks another grim escalation in tensions between the two factions.

Details surrounding the attack remain sparse, with no additional information provided by the newspaper regarding the circumstances of the assault.
