An Israeli airstrike on Beirut’s southern suburbs killed Ibrahim Aqil, the commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan Force, along with several other high-ranking Hezbollah members, sources confirmed on Friday.
The strike, reportedly carried out by an Israeli F-35 fighter jet, targeted the Hezbollah stronghold in the area.
The Israeli military confirmed Aqil’s death, with a spokesperson stating that around 10 senior Hezbollah leaders were killed in the attack. According to a report by Axios, an Israeli official claimed the airstrike eliminated the entire upper leadership of Hezbollah’s Radwan Force, totaling 20 commanders.
In retaliation, Hezbollah announced on Friday that it had struck a military intelligence headquarters in northern Israel responsible for “assassinations.”
