In an alarming development, two undisclosed sources informed Reuters on Wednesday that an armed drone had launched an attack on a base near Erbil Airport, a facility that serves as a residence for US troops.

This assault comes in the wake of a recent incident where the American army conducted strikes on Al-Hashd al-Shaabi (Popular Mobilization Units (PMU)) positions in the Jarf al-Nasr district in Babil province and Al-Qaim city along the Iraq-Syria border. Tragically, at least 2 PMU forces lost their lives in the said attack.

The region has witnessed a spike in tensions, with a retaliatory armed drone strike heightening concerns over the security of military installations hosting international forces. The recent cycle of attacks underscores the delicate and volatile situation, prompting authorities to closely examine the circumstances surrounding these incidents.

As diplomatic and security efforts intensify to address the escalating tensions, the international community remains on edge, closely monitoring developments in the region for any signs of de-escalation or further provocations.
