The UK has confirmed its ongoing commitment to Iraq’s security as the Global Coalition Against ISIS moves into a new phase.
According to an announcement from both the U.S. and Iraq, the military mission is expected to conclude within the next 12 months.

The “Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve” was established in 2014 to provide advice, assistance, and enablement for partner forces, to achieve a lasting defeat of ISIS.
This mission operates under the umbrella of the Global Coalition, which comprises 87 partners.
Over the past decade, the UK has played a pivotal role in this coalition through Operation Shader, offering support and training to more than 111,000 members of Iraq’s security forces.
The Royal Air Force has conducted over 10,000 sorties to background forces, contributing significantly to the territorial defeat of ISIS in Iraq.
With the primary objectives now achieved, the coalition is set to shift towards new security arrangements led by Iraq.
