Saudi Arabia and Iran have called on the international community to take action to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Thursday on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2024 in Davos, Switzerland.

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed “a number of issues of interest to the two countries, ways to enhance bilateral relations, and the importance of maintaining international peace and security.”

They also discussed the developments in the situation in the Gaza Strip and its surroundings, “and the importance of the international community playing its role in achieving an immediate ceasefire and protecting civilians,” according to SPA.

The meeting between the two foreign ministers is seen as a sign of thawing relations between the two countries.
