Palestine’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Riyad Mansour, emphasised that the UN Security Council has failed to meet its responsibilities to stop the ongoing war, calling on the UN General Assembly to take charge of achieving peace after the Security Council fails to halt the aggression on Gaza.

In a statement to Cairo News Channel, Mansour stated that “the Security Council has let down all countries in the Middle East by not enforcing the will of the international community and related resolutions, particularly Resolution 2735, which calls for a ceasefire.”

He added that Palestine is preparing a proposal to submit to the United Nations concerning the illegality of Israel’s ongoing occupation of Palestinian territories, stressing that the occupation is illegal and must end as soon as possible.

Mansour also mentioned that they will urge the UN General Assembly to take escalatory measures against the Israeli occupation. He noted that hundreds of thousands are protesting in Tel Aviv, holding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responsible for stalling a prisoner exchange deal.
