The Israeli military has issued evacuation orders for residents in additional areas of eastern Rafah, directing them towards the “expanded humanitarian area” in Al-Mawasi.
According to the Arabic-speaking spokesperson for the Israeli military, Avichay Adraee, on the X platform, the orders were issued this Saturday for residents in more areas of Rafah in the Gaza Strip to evacuate and move to Al-Mawasi. Adraee called for the evacuation of additional neighborhoods in eastern Rafah due to recent activities by Hamas in the past days and weeks. This was announced in a post by Adraee on the X social media platform, as reported by the “Yedioth Ahronoth” newspaper on its website today, Saturday.
The Israeli military distributed leaflets in the targeted areas, urging residents of the Jabalia area in northern Gaza Strip to move southward. Adraee also warned Palestinians of the consequences of moving towards the Israeli border.
The military wing of Hamas, the Al-Qassam Brigades, announced yesterday, Friday, and today, Saturday, that they have carried out a series of military operations against Israeli forces encroaching east of the city of Rafah, resulting in deaths and injuries.
The Israeli military operation began last Monday in the eastern part of Rafah, amid regional and international warnings of the repercussions of launching a military operation in the city, which is home to approximately 1.5 million Palestinians displaced from various parts of the Gaza Strip due to the Israeli military operations launched in response to the “Al-Aqsa Flood” attack by Hamas on Israel on October 7th.
