Israeli Army Denies Plans to Occupy Jenin Camp

In the early hours of Monday, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) initiated a large-scale military operation in the Palestinian city Jenin, which included the deployment of ground forces into the city of Samaria.

Brig. Gen. Daniel Hagari, the IDF spokesperson, stated that the forces are currently encircling the refugee camp as part of a brigade-level operation. He emphasised that the goal is not to occupy the camp or target the Palestinian Authority, but rather to carry out a sequence of operations in the northern region of the West Bank.

As of Monday morning, the IDF reported that seven Palestinians were killed, while the Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed five deaths.

The assault in Jenin commenced with an attack on a terrorist command center purposely located among UNRWA facilities, including a school and a food distribution center.
