Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi movement announced on Friday that it launched attacks on the Israeli cities of Tel Aviv and Ashkelon using a ballistic missile and a drone, as part of their support for Gaza and Lebanon.
The Israeli military confirmed intercepting a missile fired from Yemen after sirens and explosions were reported earlier in the day.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea stated that their operations would continue in the coming days until Israel halts its military actions in Gaza and Lebanon. “We will launch more operations against the Israeli enemy in support of our brothers’ bloodshed in Palestine and Lebanon,” Sarea said in a televised address.
Since Monday, Israeli airstrikes have killed over 600 people in Lebanon, marking the most intense conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, which is backed by Iran, in over 18 years.
Hezbollah has been firing rockets into Israel for nearly a year in support of Hamas, which is engaged in conflict with Israel in Gaza.
