Twelve former U.S. government officials, who resigned over America’s support for Israel’s war in Gaza, have accused the Biden administration of undeniable complicity in the killing of Palestinians in the region.

In a joint statement released on Tuesday, the former officials alleged that the administration is violating American laws by supporting Israel and exploiting loopholes to continue arms shipments to its ally. The White House and the State Department have not yet commented on the statement.

International criticism of Israel’s approach in Gaza and the U.S. military and diplomatic support for its ally has been mounting. The ongoing conflict has claimed nearly 38,000 lives and caused a humanitarian crisis.

The resignation of the U.S. officials highlights internal opposition within the government regarding its support for Israel. Washington has called for the protection of civilians in Gaza and urged Israel to improve access to aid.

Among the signatories of the joint statement were former members of the State, Education, and Interior Departments, as well as the White House and the military.
