The American magazine “Forbes” has highlighted four main reasons behind the deployment of the U.S. High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) in Northeast Syria, especially following the system’s outstanding success in Ukraine against Russia.

According to a report published by the magazine on Wednesday, the United States has deployed the HIMARS in Syria for the first time. The system is capable of launching six guided missiles in rapid succession and then quickly changing its location to avoid retaliatory responses.

In May of this year, the U.S. Central Command in the Middle East confirmed that an unspecified number of trucks loaded with missile launchers had been deployed in Syria.

The deployment was confirmed after Turkish newspapers claimed that the United States had transferred the system to the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), which controls the north and east of Syria, where approximately 900 U.S. troops are stationed.
