Tunisia’s civil protection units successfully extinguished a fire that consumed 14 hectares of wheat, which broke out on Thursday evening in the Benzer district.

According to Tunisian channel “Nessma,” the fire originated in one of the grain farms in the Bouzaria area, a sub-district of southern Benzer, as stated by Colonel Kamal Malliti, the regional director of civil protection in Benzer.

Malliti confirmed that civil protection units were immediately notified of the fire in the mentioned area. Firefighting teams rushed to the site and managed to extinguish the fire, which had engulfed 14 hectares of wheat crops.

The National Guard units in southern Benzer also arrived at the scene of the fire to assess the situation and pledged to conduct investigations to determine the cause of the incident.

It is worth noting that in late April, the firefighting teams affiliated with Tunisian civil protection announced their control over a fire that broke out in six fishing boats within one of the harbors of Sfax city.

According to a statement published by the Tunisian website “Nessma,” the firefighting teams under the regional administration of civil protection in Sfax intervened to extinguish the fire that occurred in six impounded fishing boats at the maritime fishing port of Lawata, in the Jebeniana district.

The spokesperson for civil protection clarified that the fire, which ignited in these boats, did not result in any human casualties.
