Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister of Egypt, met with Pilot Sameh Al-Hefny, the Minister of Civil Aviation, today at the government headquarters in New Alamein City.
The meeting focused on the Ministry of Civil Aviation’s strategic plans to enhance and expand Egypt’s airport capacities.
During the meeting, Al-Hefny outlined ambitious development plans for Egyptian airports.
The goal is to increase the annual passenger capacity to 72.2 million by the end of 2025, up from 66.27 million in December 2023.
This interim target is part of a broader strategy to reach a capacity of 109.20 million passengers annually by 2030.
Al-Hefny emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to adopting best practices from the global aviation industry to continuously improve performance.
This includes exploring partnerships with international firms for the management and operation of Egyptian airports, aiming to boost airport revenues and enhance passenger experiences.
The Ministry is also focusing on attracting more foreign direct investment in the aviation sector by developing investment zones around Egyptian airports.
The initiative aligns with Egypt’s vision for a green economy and a more sustainable aviation system, integrating environmental standards into all civil aviation activities and projects.
Prime Minister Madbouly directed the Minister of Civil Aviation to prioritize the development of Borg El Arab Airport, noting the increased demand for this facility.
He also emphasized the importance of promoting New Alamein Airport due to the growing tourist interest in the area.
Madbouly instructed the Ministry to address any complaints regarding service quality at airports promptly, aiming to improve the overall passenger experience.
Al-Hefny assured that feedback and complaints from passengers are being actively monitored and resolved.
The minister shared that he recently visited Borg El Arab Airport to address passenger feedback and is implementing short, medium, and long-term plans to address these issues.
Additionally, he highlighted ongoing projects at New Alamein Airport to enhance operational efficiency and accommodate increased air traffic.
A major aviation exhibition is also planned for the New Alamein Airport.
The Egyptian government’s initiative underscores its commitment to advancing infrastructure in the aviation sector, enhancing service quality, and supporting the country’s growing tourism industry.
