Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Badr Abdel Atty, emphasized Egypt’s firm rejection of any violations affecting the sovereignty and safety of Lebanon. He highlighted the importance of providing all forms of humanitarian support to the Lebanese people and empowering the Lebanese state and its institutions to fulfill their duties, according to a press release. This statement was made during a phone call with his French counterpart, Jean-Noel Barrot, where they discussed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, emphasizing the need for an immediate ceasefire and de-escalation to manage the situation.
Abdel Atty also stressed the importance of implementing UN Security Council resolutions impartially and the international community’s role in achieving an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Lebanon and Gaza. He further highlighted the disastrous consequences of continued Israeli aggression on regional peace and security.
Egypt has consistently expressed strong support for Lebanon, particularly in the face of escalating tensions and conflicts involving Israel. Egyptian officials, including President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, have made clear statements rejecting any actions that compromise Lebanese sovereignty and have repeatedly called for the preservation of Lebanon’s security and stability.
President Sisi has been proactive in communicating Egypt’s stance, engaging directly with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati to affirm Egypt’s support. This includes commitments to immediate aid deployment and support for Lebanon’s state institutions, emphasizing the critical importance of maintaining Lebanon’s territorial integrity and stability.
Moreover, Egypt has underscored the importance of supporting Lebanon through diplomatic channels and high-level discussions, warning against the potential for regional conflict escalation. This stance is part of Egypt’s broader foreign policy approach to promote peace in the region and mitigate the impacts of ongoing conflicts.
