In a recent journalistic report, it has been revealed that US “Abrams” tanks are likely to arrive on the battlegrounds in Ukraine by September.

Citing six knowledgeable sources, Politico conveyed that the US Abrams tanks are set to reach Ukraine in September as the Ukrainian forces continue their efforts to regain control of territories lost to Russian forces.

According to the newspaper, the plan involves sending several Abrams tanks to Germany in August, where they will undergo final refurbishment. Once this process is completed, the first batch of Abrams tanks will be shipped to Ukraine the following month.

The potential delivery timeline of August and September is the most specific timeframe provided regarding the deployment of the primary American combat tank to the battlefield.

Earlier, Pentagon officials had stated that the Abrams tanks would be in Ukraine sometime during the autumn. However, the delivery of the older “M1A1” version of the Abrams tanks will be used instead of the more modern “M1A2” version, which would take a year to arrive in Ukraine, as reported by Politico.

The sources revealing this information include a defense official, a US official, an industry official, a congressional aide, and two others familiar with the discussions. They declined to disclose their identities due to the sensitive nature of the undisclosed plans.

The Biden administration had expressed its intent to deliver more weaponry to Ukraine as quickly as possible to aid in counteroffensive measures and bolster the nation’s long-term defense.
