The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Thursday that it targeted border crossings between Syria and Lebanon, aiming to disrupt weapon transfers to Hezbollah.
In a statement, the IDF explained that it attacked infrastructure used for transporting combat materials from Syrian territories to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The military detailed that its air force conducted recent strikes on these infrastructures along the Syrian-Lebanese border, utilized by Hezbollah for moving combat means from Syria into Lebanon.
These weapons are purportedly intended for use against Israeli citizens.
The IDF emphasized its determination to prevent the entry of combat materials into Lebanon to arm Hezbollah, stating, “The army is actively continuing to strike Hezbollah hard, stripping it of its capabilities and infrastructure.”
In parallel, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Thursday that reports of a ceasefire with Hezbollah were inaccurate.
The office clarified that the Prime Minister has not yet responded to the American-French proposal for de-escalation.
Additionally, the Prime Minister’s office refuted claims about directives regarding calming military operations in the north.
It highlighted that the Prime Minister has instructed the military to continue fighting vigorously according to the established plan.
Videos circulating on social media on Wednesday captured the moment Israeli air defense systems intercepted a Hezbollah-launched surface-to-surface missile aimed at Tel Aviv.
Described by CNN as an unprecedented attack, this marks a new escalation in the conflict between the two sides.
This event represents the first instance where a Hezbollah missile has reached near Tel Aviv, according to the Israeli military.
The missile was launched early Wednesday, awakening residents in Tel Aviv and the central city of Netanya to the sounds of alarm sirens.
The Israeli military confirmed that the missile was intercepted near Tel Aviv, a metropolitan area home to over 4 million people on the Mediterranean coast.
