The Lebanese Interior Minister has commended the Lebanese people for their exceptional unity in facing the current crisis and the Israeli aggression, as reported by Cairo News.
The Minister noted the challenges posed by the aggression but highlighted the collective resilience demonstrated across the nation.
According to the Minister, “There are currently 70,100 displaced persons accommodated within 533 shelter centres.”
He added that there is ongoing coordination with provincial governors to manage the influx of displaced individuals around the clock.
Efforts have been made to convert a significant number of schools into shelter centres to house the displaced.
“We have secured large numbers of schools and transformed them into accommodation centres for the displaced,” he stated.
Additionally, the Minister mentioned, “All disaster management cells have been activated in the provinces, and we have coordinated with the governors to provide services to the displaced.”
This response showcases Lebanon’s structured approach to managing the humanitarian impacts of the ongoing conflict, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting its citizens during these challenging times.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) targeted border crossings between Syria and Lebanon, aiming to disrupt weapon transfers to Hezbollah.
In a statement, the IDF explained that it attacked infrastructure used for transporting combat materials from Syrian territories to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
The military detailed that its air force conducted recent strikes on these infrastructures along the Syrian-Lebanese border, utilized by Hezbollah for moving combat means from Syria into Lebanon.
These weapons are purportedly intended for use against Israeli citizens.
The IDF emphasized its determination to prevent the entry of combat materials into Lebanon to arm Hezbollah, stating, “The army is actively continuing to strike Hezbollah hard, stripping it of its capabilities and infrastructure.”
In parallel, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed on Thursday that reports of a ceasefire with Hezbollah were inaccurate.
