The Norwegian Ministry of Defense has announced that Oslo will allocate €240 million to provide air defence systems to Ukraine.
This significant commitment was highlighted in a post on the social media platform “X” by the Norwegian Ministry of Defense.
The announcement coincides with Germany’s pledge to supply 100 Patriot missiles to Ukraine, in collaboration with Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway.
Norway will contribute €125 million to this joint initiative.
Additionally, Norway and Ukraine have signed a bilateral security cooperation agreement set to last for 10 years.
Under this agreement, the Norwegian government is expected to provide Kyiv with a total of over $328 million in aid.
This strategic support underscores Norway’s dedication to enhancing Ukraine’s defence capabilities amidst ongoing regional tensions, showcasing a unified effort among European nations to bolster Ukraine’s security infrastructure.
Last March, Norway aligned with an international alliance dedicated to fortifying Ukraine’s capabilities against air and missile threats.
This development was announced by the German Defense Ministry, emphasizing Norway’s commitment to the collaborative effort focused on air and missile defence.
The coalition, spearheaded by Germany and France, aims to progressively enhance Ukraine’s comprehensive air defence mechanisms.
This commitment to Ukraine’s security infrastructure was highlighted following a pivotal assembly at Germany’s Ramstein Air Base, which centred on military aid for Ukraine.
The initiative aims to equip Kyiv with advanced air and missile defence systems, as confirmed by the Ukrainian Defense Ministry on February 15.
The formation of this coalition underscores the collective resolve of participating nations to support Ukraine amidst ongoing security challenges.
In response to international military assistance to Ukraine, Moscow has issued a cautionary note to NATO member states.
