Kremlin spokesperson stated that the U.S. House of Representatives’ decision to approve security aid to Ukraine and Israel would exacerbate the ongoing conflict, leading to further destruction and loss of Ukrainian lives, blaming the Kyiv government.
Dmitry Peskov mentioned that the move would enrich the U.S. while devastating Ukraine.
The House recently passed a bill that includes $60.84 billion in aid for Ukraine, part of which ($23 billion) is earmarked to replenish American military stocks.
The bill is expected to be approved by the Senate soon and subsequently signed by President Joe Biden.
Peskov criticized aspects of the bill that allow for the confiscation and redirection of seized Russian assets to Ukraine, claiming it would damage the U.S.’s reputation. Russia has promised to respond with countermeasures.
Additionally, Dmitry Medvedev, former Russian President, labeled the U.S. aid as motivated by Russophobia and insisted that Russia would ultimately triumph, criticizing the military-industrial costs involved.
Maria Zakharova, from the Russian Foreign Ministry, argued that the aid represents direct support for terrorism in Ukraine, meddles in China’s affairs concerning Taiwan, and risks escalating tensions in the Middle East with regard to Israel.
On her part, U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene condemned Johnson’s approval of a bill allocating over $61 billion in aid to Ukraine, labelling it a betrayal of American interests.
Greene expressed her disapproval on the social platform X, stating, ”Johnson once again passed a bill with the help of Democrats while the majority of the Republican majority voted against it.”
“Not only is Mike Johnson a traitor to our conference, he’s a traitor to our country.”
Greene argued that the US would have been stronger had Johnson not been so traitorous,” and reiterated her call for a new House Speaker.
