The Syrian Ministry of Transport announced the resumption of Algerian flights to Syria after more than ten years of suspension. The inaugural flight is set to depart on Thursday, destined for Latakia International Airport.

The announcement, detailed in a statement by the Ministry and reported by the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), reflects a noteworthy stride in the aviation sector.

The Ministry expressed its eagerness to provide all necessary facilities and procedures to support these flights. This initiative is seen as a step towards not only maintaining the operations but also aiming to increase them in the future.

The Ministry further emphasized its commitment to offering essential cooperation and coordination to reinforce this important move.

This step is regarded as a reflection of the strong and fraternal ties between the two nations. It’s seen as a push towards more joint work in various fields, promising benefits and prosperity for both peoples.

This move marks a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between Algeria and Syria, indicating a renewed interest in strengthening ties and collaboration in areas beyond aviation.

The resumption of flights is anticipated to bolster tourism, business, and cultural exchanges, enhancing the connection between the two countries.

Earlier this month, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad appointed Ayman Soussan as the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Maher Baddour as the Ambassador to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.
