Germany deported an Iraqi young man believed to have planned a “terrorist” attack during the Christmas season.
This action was announced by the Ministry of Interior in the state of Saxony-Anhalt in eastern Germany.
The deportation carried out on Friday evening, was also accompanied by a ban on re-entry and residence for an unspecified period for the 20-year-old Iraqi.
The young man was apprehended in the city of Halle, Lower Saxony, last month after the local police received information suggesting that he was planning a serious act of violence.
It is suspected that the Iraqi intended to target visitors at one of the Christmas markets.
The Iraqi individual had been residing in Saxony-Anhalt and was employed in Lower Saxony.
