Defense Minister Ben Wallace has confirmed his resignation, as announced by the office of the Prime Minister on Thursday.

Wallace, who had previously revealed his intention to step down in the upcoming cabinet reshuffle, officially resigned from his position.

In a letter addressed to the 53-year-old Wallace, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak praised his dedication and skills displayed during his tenure, particularly in his leadership role in supporting Western allies against Russia in the context of the Ukraine crisis.

Earlier, Wallace had disclosed his decision to step down from the defense ministry after serving for four years.

In an interview with The Sunday Times, he confirmed that he would not be participating in the upcoming general elections.

However, he ruled out premature departure that could lead to by-elections.

During his time in office, Wallace played a significant role as the Defense Minister under the leadership of three Prime Ministers.

He notably represented the UK’s interests during the Ukraine conflict.

Sunak is reportedly planning to make certain changes to his ministerial team, although the exact timing of these changes remains uncertain.
