On Monday, the Iraqi Intelligence Agency declared that it has successfully arrested six dangerous terrorists in the province of Nineveh.
The detained individuals, as per the agency, engaged in violent confrontations against national security forces and committed attacks on innocent civilians.
The terrorists are affiliated with extremist factions such as the General Camps Brigade, Yarmouk Brigade, Captive Left, Squadron of the Own Mast, and the Dabiq Army. They have reportedly received financial rewards for their association with these terror organizations, as confirmed by the Iraqi News Agency.
In December 2017, Iraq announced that it had entirely liberated its territories from the shackles of the ISIS terrorist group after almost three and a half years of intense battles.
ISIS had once controlled around one-third of the nation, proclaiming it as their so-called “Islamic Caliphate.” Nonetheless, the relentless Iraqi security forces persist in hunting down and dismantling remnants of the organization, which continue their attempts to execute terrorist activities across various regions of the country.
The security forces of Iraq are currently embroiled in conflicts in numerous cities, including Nineveh, Kirkuk, Diyala, Salah al-Din, Anbar, and the outskirts of Baghdad.
Their objective is to annihilate the remaining elements of ISIS in the wake of the organization’s defeat, which had previously occupied expansive areas across Iraq and Syria for several years.
The Iraqi authorities have continually reiterated their commitment to eradicating terrorist organizations within the country and reinforcing the principle of the state’s exclusive right to arms.
