Six people, including three children, were killed in a kindergarten stabbing in China’s south-eastern Guangdong province, authorities announced on Monday.
As per an AFP report, a local official noted that the other victims are a teacher and two parents, adding that one person is also injured.
Police stated that they have arrested a 25-year-old man with the surname Wu in Lianjiang town. They called this a case of “intentional assault” but not elaborated on a possible motive.
The deadly attack took place on Monday at 07:40 local time when parents were dropping their children off for summer classes. The man was arrested at 08:00.
China has been witnessing attacks on schoolchildren for many years. Over a decade ago, China’s then-premier Wen Jiabao went on TV after a spate of attacks, to promise better security at schools and efforts to tackle underlying problems.
