One Killed & 11 Wounded in Shooting Attack Near Jerusalem

In a shocking incident, one Israeli man lost his life, and 11 others sustained injuries in a terror shooting attack carried out by three Palestinian gunmen near a checkpoint between Jerusalem and the West Bank settlement city of Ma’ale Adumim on Thursday morning, as reported by both police and medical sources.

According to the police, the trio unleashed automatic gunfire at Israelis who were waiting in traffic on the Route 1 highway, a short distance before the az-Za’ayyem checkpoint, situated close to the West Bank town bearing the same name.

Tragically, a man in his 20s, identified as Matan Elmaliah, 26, of Ma’aleh Adumim, lost his life in the shooting, as confirmed by medical officials. The Magen David Adom ambulance service disclosed that it treated a total of 12 people, including the young man who was declared dead at the scene.

Among the injured, a 23-year-old pregnant woman is listed in serious condition, while four others are in moderate condition. The latter includes a woman in her 30s, a 23-year-old man, a 51-year-old man, and a 52-year-old woman, according to MDA.

The incident has sparked heightened concerns, with authorities investigating the motives and circumstances surrounding the attack. The international community closely watches as tensions in the region continue to escalate, underscoring the urgent need for efforts to restore peace and stability.
