Egypt is hosting the Summit of Sudan’s Neighboring Countries today, Thursday, to discuss ways to end the ongoing conflict and its negative implications on the neighboring countries.
The summit aims to develop effective mechanisms involving the neighboring countries to peacefully resolve the crisis in Sudan, in coordination with regional and international paths for conflict resolution.
This announcement was made by Ahmed Fahmy, the spokesperson for the Presidency.
The spokesperson further emphasized that in light of the current crisis in Sudan, President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is keen on formulating a shared vision among Sudan’s direct neighboring countries and taking steps to resolve the crisis, end the bloodshed of the Sudanese people, mitigate the negative effects they are facing, preserve the Sudanese state and its resources, and minimize the significant repercussions of the crisis on the neighboring countries and the overall security and stability of the region.
Yesterday evening, the Egyptian president hosted Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, who leads his country’s delegation to participate in the Summit of Sudan’s Neighboring Countries, held today, Thursday. They met at the Federal Palace.
The spokesperson for the Presidency clarified that el-Sisi and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed discussed ways to resolve the crisis in Sudan, in addition to enhancing bilateral relations between Egypt and Ethiopia and addressing the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
