At least 11 people were killed and over 30 others injured in an explosion that occurred inside a mosque in northern Afghanistan.
The incident took place during the funeral of the Taliban’s provincial deputy governor, who had been killed in an attack earlier in the week.
The blast occurred in the province of Badakhshan, which is located in the far north of the country and shares borders with China and Tajikistan.
Among the victims was Safiullah Samim, a former police commander of northern Baghlan province, as confirmed in a statement by police chief Najibullah Badakhshi, who offered condolences for the tragedy.
