Syrian sources revealed that American forces have intensified their operations to support their bases in the countryside of Al-Hasakah in the northeast of the country. In recent hours, dozens of vehicles loaded with weapons, ammunition, and logistical materials have been brought into these bases.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported on Sunday, citing local sources in the countryside of Al-Ya’rubiyah on the Syrian border, that “a convoy of the American occupation consisting of 75 vehicles, most of which are closed refrigerators and large carriers for transporting large loads, entered Syrian territory through the illegal Al-Walid crossing from the occupation bases in Iraqi territory.”
The sources pointed out that “the convoy headed to the occupation base at Kharab Al-Jeer airport in the countryside of Al-Ya’rubiyah to assemble and distribute them to the occupation bases in the countryside of Al-Hasakah.”
According to the agency, “on the 15th of this month, the American occupation forces had brought weapons, ammunition, and logistical materials into their bases in the countryside of Al-Hasakah.
Attacks on US forces in Iraq and Syria have seen a significant uptick since the onset of the Israel-Hamas war. A notable incident occurred when US troops in Iraq were targeted by Iran-backed armed groups just hours after Tehran vowed retaliation for an Israeli attack in Damascus. This incident highlighted the growing fears of a wider regional conflict that could emerge from these tensions.
Since mid-October, more than 100 attacks have been directed at US bases in Iraq and Syria, involving a mix of drones, rockets, mortars, and ballistic missiles. While most of these attacks were intercepted or failed to reach their targets, a small number did result in injuries to US troops. The Pentagon has carried out retaliatory strikes against facilities used by Iran-backed militia groups in Syria in response to these ongoing attacks, although it has not directly linked the surge in violence to US support for Israel in the Gaza conflict.
