In a startling revelation, American journalist Tucker Carlson has accused U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin of threatening members of Congress with deploying their relatives to the Ukrainian conflict if they fail to continue supporting Kyiv.
Carlson announced these allegations on his blog on the social media site “X”, indicating that Austin openly issued these threats should lawmakers disagree with the U.S. administration’s request for new aid for Kyiv.
According to Carlson, during a closed briefing in the House of Representatives, Defense Secretary Austin stated, “We will send your uncles, cousins, and sons to fight Russia.”
This report has caught the attention of American billionaire Elon Musk, who became interested in what Carlson termed as “open threats made by the U.S. administration against Americans.” When asked about the veracity of Austin’s statement, Carlson confirmed, “This is indeed the case.”
Earlier, U.S. President Joe Biden expressed his belief that Russia would attack NATO countries following a victory in Ukraine, potentially dragging the United States into the conflict.
In response, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov lamented Washington’s use of demonizing Russia as a tool to manipulate the behavior of legislators.
Meanwhile, Republicans in the U.S. Senate have refrained from considering the White House’s request for funds to aid Ukraine, Israel, and other needs. The House of Representatives also seems in no rush to approve the corresponding bill.
Notably, Republicans are demanding changes in the approaches to “Border Security” forces, while the White House warns that only a few weeks remain before the exhaustion of aid capabilities for Ukraine, with no guarantees for further support.
