The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is set to vote on a draft resolution proposed by Algeria to halt ongoing Israeli aggression against Rafah.

The resolution demands that Israel, as the occupying power, immediately cease its military actions in Rafah. It calls for an immediate ceasefire respected by all parties, the unconditional release of all hostages, and compliance with international law regarding detainees.

This session marks the first Security Council action since the attack on refugee tents in Rafah.

The International Court of Justice previously ordered Israel to cease military operations and keep the Rafah crossing open for humanitarian aid.
