An urgent UN Security Council meeting has been called by the UK, France, and Algeria, following growing international pressure on Israel to allow aid into northern Gaza.

The call for the meeting comes after the U.S. warned Israel that it may partially cut military assistance if more humanitarian aid is not allowed to reach the region.

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy stated that Israel must ensure the protection of civilians and open routes for life-saving aid, emphasizing that these issues will be addressed in the Security Council session.

The humanitarian situation in northern Gaza is dire, with access to basic services deteriorating rapidly. According to the UN, almost no food has entered the region in the past two weeks.
