UN Concerned Over Lebanon-Israel Tensions

A UN spokesperson has warned of the dangers of a broad conflict between Lebanon and Israel, citing severe consequences as cross-border shelling between Israel and Hezbollah continues.

In a statement on Friday, UN Secretary-General António Guterres’ spokesperson, Stéphane Dujarric, emphasized the urgency of halting the ongoing violence.

“With the continued exchange of fire across the Blue Line, the Secretary-General renews his call for an immediate ceasefire,” Dujarric stated.

Guterres remains deeply concerned about the cross-border shelling, which he noted not only disturbs residents near the Blue Line but also has profound impacts on communities in both Lebanon and Israel.

He urged all parties to fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and to immediately cease all hostilities.
