On Saturday, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) expressed strong support for the International Court of Justice’s (ICJ) recent directives, which call for immediate actions to ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip.

These provisional measures specifically demand the cessation of any incitement to commit genocide against Palestinians and emphasize the urgent need for humanitarian aid and services in the region.

In a statement, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs lauded the ICJ’s commitment to halting Israeli violations and safeguarding Palestinian rights. The UAE particularly appreciated South Africa’s significant contributions to this cause, highlighting the imperative of civilian protection, unobstructed and sustained humanitarian assistance, and the prevention of further casualties. The statement also reiterated the UAE’s staunch support for a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state as the only viable path to lasting peace.

The ICJ’s rulings represent a critical juncture in the international community’s response to the ongoing crisis in Gaza, reflecting a collective endeavor to address the dire humanitarian situation and protect civilian lives amidst escalating tensions. The UAE’s endorsement of these measures underscores its active engagement in global diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its commitment to upholding human rights and international law.

This development also signifies a broader regional and international consensus on the importance of providing immediate relief to Gaza’s civilians and curbing actions that exacerbate the conflict. By aligning with the ICJ’s decisions, the UAE reinforces its position as a key advocate for peace, stability, and humanitarian principles in the Middle East. The emphasis on a two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state further highlights the UAE’s vision for a sustainable and just resolution to the conflict, grounded in mutual respect and international cooperation.
