Early Tuesday, Syria announced that it had been subjected to an Israeli airstrike near the coastal city of Baniyas.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), a military source stated, “Israel launched an aerial attack targeting a site in the vicinity of the Syrian city of Baniyas, resulting in some material losses.”
The source added that the Israeli attack occurred “around 12:20 AM on July 9, 2024, from the direction of the Mediterranean Sea, west of Baniyas, targeting one of the points in the vicinity of the city.”
The SOHR had previously reported that there were Iranian forces present in the area that was targeted.
Meanwhile, Syrian Air has announced the resumption of regular flights between Damascus and Riyadh, starting from Wednesday, July 10.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), Hatem Kabass, the Director General of the aviation company, stated that a regular flight will operate from Damascus International Airport to Riyadh Airport, with one flight scheduled every Wednesday.
Kabass also mentioned that the number of flights will increase once suitable timings are secured for Syrian Air.
Amid escalating racial tensions in Turkey, Syrian refugees are facing increased hardships. A Syrian family in Kayseri was attacked by their neighbours, leading to their detention at a deportation centre and facing the risk of being sent back to Syria.
The family of six, including two young children, faced these events following allegations of a 15-year-old boy threatening the neighbours, which led to his overnight arrest.
After his release, the police returned, detained the entire family, confiscated their phones, and conducted a body search.
