Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman and army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan began a visit to Algeria on Sunday, where he met with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who assured him of his country’s support in the face of the “forces of evil” targeting Sudan.

Tebboune said in a joint statement with his Sudanese guest, carried by the state television, that “Algeria stands by Sudan to overcome difficult circumstances and face the forces of evil that target it,” without clarifying what forces he was referring to.

For his part, Burhan confirmed that “Sudan is under a conspiracy with the complicity of international and regional partners,” thanking Algeria for “being present at every table of discussion or Arab or regional negotiations.”

Burhan arrived in Algeria on Sunday morning for a two-day official visit, and was received at the airport by Prime Minister Nezzar El-Arabawi.

His visit to Algeria comes after a tour led by his rival and former deputy, the commander of the Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, known as “Hemedti,” to African countries in an attempt to gain legitimacy.
