Saudi Arabia announced on Sunday that it had foiled three attempts to smuggle over 151,000 Captagon pills into the country. The narcotics were discovered concealed in vehicles at the Haditha border crossing, connecting Saudi Arabia with Jordan, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

SPA reported that Saudi Arabia’s Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority thwarted the first attempt by discovering 43,000 Captagon pills hidden inside the engine of one of the vehicles crossing the border. In the second attempt, 45,349 pills were found concealed within the air tank located on the balance arms of the front tires of another vehicle. A third attempt was foiled with the interception of 62,790 pills hidden within the cooling engine of a different vehicle.

The Saudi Authority affirmed its commitment to strengthening customs control on the Kingdom’s imports and exports, standing guard against smuggling attempts. The Authority aims to protect the community from such perils through continuous coordination and cooperation with its partners, reinforcing societal security.
