The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday that it is closely monitoring the ongoing developments in Niger, urging all parties to prioritize the voice of reason, wisdom, and the supreme national interest.
Elements of Niger’s presidential guard detained President Mohamed Bazoum and his family members on Wednesday morning, imposing a situation akin to “house arrest” in the residential wing of the Presidential Palace, and barred him from reaching his office.
In a statement, the Ministry underscored Saudi Arabia’s commitment to the security and stability of Niger and the integrity of its institutions, expressing full solidarity with its people.
