Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, Majid Al-Qasabi, chaired the fourth meeting of the negotiating team for the Gulf-UK Free Trade Agreement at the headquarters of the authority in Riyadh.
The meeting aims to prepare for the fourth round of negotiations for the Free Trade Agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the United Kingdom, scheduled to take place from July 17 to 28, 2023. The negotiating round will be divided into remote and in-person meetings in London.
During the meeting, Deputy Governor for Agreements and International Organizations, Fareed Al-Assali, provided an overview of the progress of the negotiations and discussed the provisions of the agreement with the heads of the technical negotiating teams. The meeting covered topics related to goods and rules of origin, investment and services, e-commerce, as well as general texts and provisions.
It is worth mentioning that Saudi Arabia’s negotiating team works to oversee and monitor the progress of trade negotiations to ensure their alignment with Saudi Arabia’s trade objectives and policies. They also participate in trade negotiations to incorporate Saudi Arabia’s negotiating positions and coordinate with countries that have similar or complementary interests in international trade.
