Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson for Qatar’s Foreign Ministry, has indicated that the negotiations between Israel and Hamas concerning a ceasefire and the release of hostages in Gaza are verging on deadlock.
Regarding the International Criminal Court prosecutor’s recent move to issue arrest warrants for certain leaders from both Israel and Hamas, Al-Ansari noted that it is premature for Qatar to make a detailed comment.
However, he emphasized that all parties and entities should be accountable for civilian casualties.
Meanwhile, internal pressures are evident within the Israeli government as Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Benny Gantz, a member of the war cabinet, have urged Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to convene a cabinet meeting to address the stalled negotiations.
Netanyahu has declined this request, arguing that the proposals on the table would only hasten the end of the war and criticizing the current negotiation strategies with Hamas, which he claims continually rejects proposed agreements.
