Turkey experienced an unprecedented climatic event on Tuesday as it witnessed its hottest day in recorded history.
The temperature soared to a staggering 49.5°C in Eskisehir, located in Central Turkey.
This new record surpassed the previous highest temperature, which was set on July 20, 2021, at 49.1°C in Sirnak.
Throughout the day, street-level thermometers across various regions of the country measured temperatures hovering around 50°C, underscoring the severity of the heatwave.
The relentless heatwave in Turkey shows no signs of abating this week. The nation has been grappling with scorching temperatures due to a heatwave originating from Africa.
Additionally, another heatwave originating from Basra, Iraq, has further intensified the extreme weather conditions in the country.
