The General Secretariat of the Arab League has announced that Palestine has submitted an urgent request for an extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives. This session aims to address the ongoing acts of genocide against the Palestinian people, as stated by Ambassador Hossam Zaki, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League.

Zaki explained that the request from Palestine seeks to discuss the intensification of Israeli occupation crimes against Palestinians, particularly in Gaza and the northern parts of the Gaza Strip, which have been subjected to a military siege.

The Assistant Secretary-General also noted that consultations are currently underway with Yemen, the current president of the session, to convene this meeting as soon as possible.

Recent escalations in Lebanon have seen a significant increase in Israeli military operations. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have conducted numerous strikes across various regions in Lebanon, reportedly targeting Hezbollah positions. This aggressive stance is part of a broader conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, with Israel aiming to push Hezbollah forces north of the Litani River, creating a buffer zone to safeguard its northern settlements. The operations have included both aerial and ground offenses, affecting residential areas and leading to casualties and widespread damage.

The situation has garnered international attention, with various parties calling for restraint and a focus on diplomatic resolutions to avoid further escalation and humanitarian crises. The Arab League, in response to these developments, has been involved in diplomatic discussions, emphasizing the need for peaceful solutions to the ongoing conflicts in the region.
