On Tuesday, the Pakistani military confirmed the killing of six soldiers in an exchange of gunfire with militants near the Afghan border. The incident took place in North Waziristan and also resulted in the deaths of four armed militants.
Furthermore, the counter-terrorism unit of the police in Punjab province, eastern Pakistan, successfully detained 13 terrorists, including three prominent leaders affiliated with the “ISIS” organization.

A statement released days earlier by the Pakistani counter-terrorism unit stated, “The arrests were made during security operations executed based on intelligence information in several cities of the province.” The unit further disclosed, “Weapons and explosive devices were confiscated during the operations.”

The counter-terrorism unit highlighted that the captured terrorists were planning to execute significant terror activities within the province and target essential infrastructures throughout Punjab.

The Pakistani police unit elaborated that these militants were arrested from various locations, including Lahore, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Rawalpindi, Chiniot, Kasur, and Multan, over the past two days. According to the police, the detained terrorists are affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), ISIS, and Al-Qaeda.

The statement also mentioned the discovery of approximately 2,360 grams of explosives, a bomb, 11 detonators, a handgun, ammunition, and banned literature.
