The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has decided to send a delegation to the European Union (EU) to express its rejection of repeated Quran-burning incidents allowed in Sweden and Denmark.
Representatives of the OIC member states discussed the recurrence of offenses against the Holy Quran in an emergency ministerial meeting held via video call, initiated by Saudi Arabia and Iraq. The member states have been urged to take appropriate measures in their relations with countries where desecration and burning of Quranic copies are allowed.
The organization added that these measures aim to express its rejection of repeated violations of the sanctity of the Holy Quran and Islamic symbols.
It is noteworthy that the Swedish police granted permission on Monday for the burning of the Quran, in the latest assault in a series of actions to desecrate the Quran that have provoked angry reactions in Islamic countries worldwide.
