French midfielder N’Golo Kante concluded his transfer to Saudi side Al-Ittihad, the club announce on Wednesday.
Kante signed a three-year contract with the club as a free agent, joining his mate Karim Benzema in Jeddah.
“Don’t believe in fake news. Kante is an Ittihad player now,” Al Ittihad announced on Twitter.
“Kante’s addition to Al Ittihad is considered one of the most high-profile and impactful signings in the club’s history,” the club said in a statement. “It is part of the club’s efforts to establish itself as a top choice for world-class players in the Saudi Professional League.”
The club released photos of a Kante holding up the club’s iconic black and yellow jersey bearing his name and the number 7.
Earlier this month, media reports mentioned that the agreement was being held up by medical checks on the player, who has a history of injuries.
The 32-year-old player’s contract with Chelsea is due to end this month. He missed six months of action for the London side with a hamstring problem this past season.
